This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect your personal information. This Policy is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service and forms an integral part of your agreement with ProFindr.

2. Scope and applicable law

This Policy applies to all personal information collected through the Platform, including our website, mobile application, and related services. It is governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, S.C. 2000, c. 5) and, where applicable, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL, S.C. 2010, c. 23). This Policy does not apply to non-personal, anonymous, or aggregated information.

3. What is personal information

"Personal information" means information about an identifiable individual, as defined under PIPEDA. It includes your name, contact details, payment information, and any other data that identifies or could reasonably identify you. It does not include business contact information used solely for professional communication (such as a company name, business address, or business phone number).

4. Minors

The Platform is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we may hold information from a minor, please contact us at support@profindr.ca.

(a) Information you provide directly

  • Identity and contact: name, email address, phone number, mailing address.
  • Account credentials: username, password, account preferences.
  • Payment information: credit card details and billing address (processed by our third-party payment processor; ProFindr stores only limited transaction reference data).
  • Profile information: photograph, service history, ratings, and reviews.
  • Tasker credentials: professional licences, qualifications, certificates, insurance documentation, and tax-related information where applicable.
  • Communications: messages, dispute submissions, and feedback submitted through the Platform.

(b) Information we collect automatically

  • Technical data: IP address, device type, browser type and version, operating system.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, time spent on the Platform, referring URLs.
  • Transaction data: booking history, payment records, cancellation records.

(c) Geo-location information

With your consent, we collect real-time geo-location data from your mobile device to enable Tasker matching, provide accurate booking navigation, and improve our service. You may withdraw geo- location consent at any time through your device settings. Withdrawal may limit certain Platform functionality. Taskers' location is tracked in real time during active bookings to enable arrival notifications.

(d) Information from third parties

We may receive information about you from third-party analytics tools and fraud detection partners to improve Platform security and performance. We do not purchase personal information from data brokers.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve the Platform. By continuing to use the Platform, you consent to our use of these technologies. You may manage cookie preferences through your browser settings; however, disabling certain cookies may affect Platform functionality.

We use the following categories of cookies:

  • Necessary cookies: required for Platform functionality, security, and session management.
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how users navigate the Platform (e.g., pages visited, time on site). We use tools such as Google Analytics. Data collected is aggregated and anonymized where possible.
  • Marketing cookies: used to deliver relevant content and measure the effectiveness of communications. You may opt out of marketing cookies at any time through your account settings or by emailing support@profindr.ca.

We do not sell data collected through cookies to third parties.

7. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Create, operate, and administer your account and bookings.
  • Match Users with suitable Taskers and facilitate Service delivery.
  • Process payments and maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Verify identity and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Send booking confirmations, reminders, and transactional notifications.
  • Send marketing and promotional communications (with your CASL consent).
  • Respond to customer support requests and dispute submissions.
  • Comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Improve Platform features, performance, and user experience through aggregated analytics.
  • Issue T4A slips or other CRA-required information returns where applicable.

8. Your consent

Express consent. We will ask for your express consent — for example, by checking a box — before sending marketing communications or collecting sensitive information, in compliance with CASL.

Implied consent. In other cases, your consent is implied by your use of the Platform — for example, providing your address when placing a booking implies consent to use that address to fulfill the booking.

Withdrawing consent. You may withdraw consent at any time by: (a) updating your privacy preferences in account settings; (b) emailing privacy@profindr.ca; or (c) deleting your account. Withdrawal may limit your ability to use certain Platform features. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal or processing required to complete active bookings or meet legal obligations.

9. Disclosure of your information

We share your personal information only as described in this Policy. We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information:

  • With Taskers and Users: to the extent necessary to facilitate your Booking (e.g., sharing a User's address with the assigned Tasker).
  • With payment processors: we use Stripe to process payments. Your payment data is governed by Stripe's privacy policy. ProFindr retains only limited transaction reference data.
  • With hosting and infrastructure providers: our Platform is hosted on reputable cloud infrastructure. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • With analytics providers: to analyze Platform usage on an aggregated, anonymized basis.
  • With legal or regulatory authorities: where required by applicable law, court order, or subpoena, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of ProFindr, our users, or the public.
  • In a business transaction: if ProFindr is acquired, merged, or transfers all or a portion of its assets, your personal information may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to the same privacy protections.

All third-party service providers are required by contract to handle your personal information in a manner consistent with this Policy and applicable Canadian privacy law.

10. International data transfers

ProFindr is based in Ontario, Canada. Some of our third-party service providers (including Stripe and cloud infrastructure providers) may process or store your personal information outside Canada, including in the United States. Personal information transferred to the US may be subject to disclosure under US legislation, including the USA PATRIOT Act. We take reasonable steps to ensure that such transfers are subject to appropriate contractual protections. By using the Platform, you consent to these transfers.

11. Data security

The security of your personal information is important to us. We implement reasonable physical, technological, organizational, and administrative safeguards, including SSL encryption for data in transit and encrypted storage for sensitive information such as payment records.

However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. ProFindr makes no guarantee of absolute security and is not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.

We recommend that you: use a strong, unique password for your account; log out after each session; keep your device software updated; and notify us immediately at privacy@profindr.ca if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

12. Anonymized data

We may anonymize your personal information so that it cannot reasonably be re-identified. You acknowledge and agree that ProFindr may use such anonymized and de-identified data for any legitimate business purpose, including analytics, product improvement, and reporting, without further notice to you or your consent, subject to applicable law.

13. Data retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, to maintain accurate business records, and to comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Personal information used to make a decision directly affecting you will be retained for a minimum of one (1) year after that decision, as required by PIPEDA. When personal information is no longer required, we will destroy, delete, or anonymize it in a secure manner. Deletion of your account does not immediately purge all records; some data may be retained for a limited period to satisfy legal, tax, or dispute resolution obligations.

14. Your rights

Under PIPEDA and applicable Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access: request confirmation of whether we hold personal information about you and obtain a copy of that information.
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated personal information.
  • Erasure: in certain circumstances, request deletion of your personal information where it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or where you withdraw consent and no legal obligation requires retention.
  • Object to processing: object to our use of your personal information for direct marketing purposes at any time.
  • Data portability: where technically feasible, request a copy of your personal information in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Complaint: file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca) if you believe your rights under PIPEDA have been violated.

To exercise any of these rights, contact support@profindr.ca. We will respond within 30 days of receipt of a written request, as required by PIPEDA. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. In certain circumstances permitted by law, we may decline a request and will explain the reasons in writing.

15. Public content and forums

If you post reviews, ratings, or other content publicly on the Platform, that content is visible to other users. You should exercise judgment about what personal information you include in public content. ProFindr is not responsible for how other users may use publicly visible information you choose to share.

16. Third-party links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party website you visit. ProFindr is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites.

17. Changes to this policy

ProFindr may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (to the address registered to your account) or by a prominent notice on the Platform at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
